Roopmandir was started by Mr. Vinod Kumar Gupta and his brothers, Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta and Mr Pradeep Kumar Gupta in October, 1979, at the present location (as a rented store at groundfloor) at Central Market, Lajpat Nagar. At that time the store dealt only in Sarees. In 1985, the store extended to basement and started offering women suits as well. Positive response from clients led to the opening of 'Roopmandir' in its full grandeur of self owned 4 floors, in the year 1993. The store was inaugurated by Smt. SHARMILA TAGORE Ji. Roopmandir also started offering Men's wear and Kids Wear from 1993. However, they discontinued kids wear after 2006. In the year 2007, his nephew, Mr Ankit Gupta also joined the family venture infusing fresh and new ideas into Roopmandir, eversince.
