The business was started by the owner's grandfather, Late Mr. Bhagmal Das Dawar Ji and his father Mr. Charan Das Dawar, in the year 1955. They came to present India from West Punjab (now Pakistan) after partition in 1947 and settled in Delhi near Lajpat Nagar, which was a refugee colony at that time. Mr Charan Das Dawar, being educated and having his degrees in place bagged government job for himself and in the mean time applied for a shop at Central Market. Following approval, the store "Dawar Bartan Bhandar" was born. Later, the business was divided amongst brothers and the store at present location came to be known as "National Bartan Bhandar" under the headship of the owner, Mr. Yoginder Dawar. He was later joined by his equally enthusiastic sons Mr. Anshul Dawar and Mr. Arjun Dawar. Together with their good work and wonderful response from their clients, the trio has taken the business to a great height and the store is well known for its Kitchenware and Crockery, along with being a distributor.
